"Liberals from the realms of theory . . . "

Today, many Christians celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany.  (Interestingly, this Feast commemorates different events in the Eastern (i.e., Christ's baptism in the Jordan River) and Western (i.e., the visitation of the Magi) churches).

At my parish, mass closed with the classic, "Angels from the Realms of Glory" (written in 1816 by James Montgomery).  I suppose it testifies to my (a) impiety, (b) ADD, and / or (c) law-geekery that my mind wandered quickly to another version, composed by William Rehnquist (and his law clerk, now-Prof. Craig Bradley) in 1975:

Liberals from the realms of theory

Should adorn our highest bench

Though to crooks they’re always cheery

At police misdeeds they blench.

Save Miranda! Save Miranda!

Save it from the Nixon four!

(HT:  John Barrett and The Green Bag).
