Snuggie!
The New York Times on Sunday had a wonderful article about the Snuggie. You know the Snuggie, it's a blanket with sleeves. My dear friend (and co-author) Liz Glazer once blogged here about great office gadgets that help to make the perfect working environment. I'm not sure I will ever have the courage to wear one in the office (at least not until I have tenure), but the Snuggie would make my list.

I think April in Chicago may be a little warm for snuggies, but perhaps that shouldn't be the primary concern about the event.

I know financial times are tight, but are they so bad now that universities are turning down the heat in your offices? That really is depressing.

I have a very funny colleague who pointed out the resemblance between the brown Slanket/Snuggie and a Jedi robe. Folks in blogosphere add to the analysis, likening the black Slanket to Sith lord attire. See http://www.robberrisford.com/index.php/2008/02/27/the-slanket-brilliant/. Apparently the Slanket vs. Snuggie debate is quite fierce. I am unindoctrinated in the pleasures of either, but propose we replace graduation robes with Snuggies and/or Slankets.
