City of Berkeley Disses Military
Thanks to Dan and the rest of Prawfsblawg for inviting me to blog with them this month. We had our first snow day today, but that doesn't stop the blogging!
Check out this intriguing story about the City of Berkeley, which voted to brand the resident military recruiting station an "uninvited and unwelcome intruder." This doesn't appear to be a ban, though the city council did vote to explore whether it could enforce its antidiscrimination laws against the military. Although FAIR doesn't seem to me to be implicated here (of course, I'm just a civ pro guy, so I very well may be wrong), it seems clear that the underlying discomfort with "don't ask, don't tell" is manifesting itself in a variety of ways.
