Slightly Surreal

So I'm back in the cold cocoon of Mother Harvard for my tenth college reunion this weekend, typing away in the law school library.  It's been three years since I was last here, which seems like an awfully long time, especially since there are few teachers of mine around, and even fewer (read: nil) former students of mine lurking. It feels a bit like walking around a hallowed graveyard...but not exactly. I suspect things will change a bit once the reunion activities kick up in earnest.

Last night Dan Solove and I were hanging out with a bunch of bloggers and readers at DC's Karma for the happy hour that Orin Kerr from TVC organized (and which we latched onto).  One of the first persons I met was Tom Goldstein from Scotusblog.  Ethan, good news: I'm optimistic that you're going to get to participate in the next quasi-Raichfest that occurs on the Scotus metablog efforts.  When I ran into David Bernstein from TVC with Sigal, his pregnant wife, he joked that he thought the appearance of Sigal would offend PrawfsBlawg's purported prejudice against repopulative birthing... (FYI: Ethan I'm afraid that your phrase "more incentives to abort seem perfectly justifiable" will come back to haunt you someday!)

I also met Laura Heymann, who's at GW now with Orin and D. Solove, and off to William and Mary.  I was able to wheedle her on to the blog too, at some as yet undetermined time. It was great to meet so many people and see some familiar faces again.  I suspect that TVC and PrawfsBlawg will sponsor some other gigs in the future this summer, so stay tuned.  (I'm proud to say that there were fewer cranks among the PrawfsBlawg readership; poor Orin was deluged...so much so that he too will do a guest stint at the end of the month here.)

Serendipitously, on the flight this morning to Boston, I sat next to future guest-blogger Kenny Bamberger, who's about to start at Boalt.  If you've enjoyed the last months, the next two should be at least as good!

You got network access? I thought the cards had to be registered or somethin'. Or... or... did they actually install wifi in Langdell?

Wow - and the other Dan (Solove) thought he was addicted to blogging!
