FSU Law Review Exclusive Period Begins for Fall 2013

The Florida State University Law Review will be conducting exclusive fall article reviews over the next few weeks.  Any article submitted to this exclusive review between now and October 1st will be evaluated by October 8th.  By submitting the article you agree to accept an offer for publication should one be extended.  Any articles accepted through this review will be published in our fourth issue, which is slated for publication in summer of 2014.

If you have an article you would like to submit, please e-mail Sean Armil a copy of the article and your CV at swa11@my.fsu.edu with the subject line "Exclusive Fall Article Review." We look forward to reading your submissions.

And would it be worth explicitly clarifying something I remember coming up last time? By submitting for exclusive review are you also 1, representing that you've withdrawn the piece from every other journal where it's still under consideration, and 2, committing not to withdraw the piece during the review period even if it hasn't been accepted yet?

Prof. Baude, (2) is correct. For (1), withdrawing from other journals is not necessary. Authors can accept other pending offers after we've made a decision on their article, but not before.

Sean, doesn't your 4:52 comment contradict Dan's description of the process? How can an author "accept other pending offers after [FSULR has] made a decision" if the author has already "agree[d] to accept an offer [from FSULR] should one be extended"?

Thanks, Sean!

Tim, good point. To clarify: the 'can' in my post should be read as subject to Prof. Markel's description. Authors can accept another pending offer after we let them know we will not be publishing their article. I assumed that if we published their article, whether to withdraw from other journals would not be an issue.

Has FSU finalized their selection yet?
