So, it was Lat!

Jeff Toobin scoops the world and points out in this New Yorker column that none other than Dave Lat is the A3G author of Underneath Their Robes.  Lat was a bit behind me in college and we wrote on the paper together I think.  Very funny and sharp guy, as evinced by the blog.  He deserves kudos for successfully staying anonymous as long as he did.  Looks like he revealed himself to Toobin out of sheer vainglory.  Can't blame him really.

Although he intended to remain anonymous, the success of the blog made coming clean irresistible. “I felt frustrated that I was putting a lot of time into this and was unable to get any credit for it,” Lat said. “But eventually these things have a way of coming out anyway. I only hope that the judges I appear in front of don’t read it.”

I'd be surprised if they didn't, especially the Judicial Hotties. Lat, it seems, is now trying to follow Alito's footsteps to the Court through YLS, fancy clerkship, and the Newark US Attorney's office.  I bet Lat goes on to Court TV or CNN as a legal affairs commentator now.  Hmm. Suspicious.  Now I wonder if this isn't all an information-forcing ruse: perhaps Lat isn't the author, but was trying to force the information out of the real A3G; might the real A3G stand up now?
