One More Reason Why Political Science Ph.D.s Should Teach in Law Schools If They Can
Dan Drezner (U of Chicago--Political Science) has just been denied tenure. Given the man's output and influence, it would be unimaginable that he'd have been denied tenure by almost any law school.
It's interesting to read Dan on whether he thinks blogging affected the university's decision--and whether he has any regrets.

Well, sure, easy for you to say.
Most law schools aren't remotely interested in hiring -- or even affiliating with -- people with social science PhDs, even those who already have tenure at their respective universities, teach/conduct research in legal areas, etc.
That's changing -- vveeeerrryyyy slowly -- at the very top places. But most law schools remain trade schools.

I second The Pooka's motion - law professors, put your money where mouth is -- there are plenty of social scientists out there w/ comparable records who would love to work in a law school - hire them; provide joint appointments, get involved with the rest of the academy, etc. etc.
